Inside the Siegfried Mansion

It is not often we get to see inside a Victorian home. Photographs were generally an important occasion to record a family group or an important event. This series of interior images of the Siegfried mansion shows gaslight fixtures, two different fireplaces, decorative statues, and even a mounted deer head. The edge of a piano is visible where son Edwin learned to play. He later gave lessons and accompanied films at theaters. One photograph includes a table, but this may be simply for afternoon tea or coffee. What appears to be a coffee service is on a nearby table. The Siegfrieds likely had a more formal dining room since they were a family of eleven.
