Holiday decor is now on sale in our Vintage Shop! Come and visit us while we are open and find the perfect gift for that special someone! All proceeds go to support our operating costs, so we hope you'll be generous this holiday season. The Museum will remain open for our regular hours, weekends through December 20, 2021. We will close through the end of the year and we will reopen to the public on Friday, January 8, 2022. The Meyers House and Garden are closed for December, and will reopen on Saturday, January 8, 2022. Thank you for your support this year, and we wish you all a very Happy Holidays and a historic 2022!

In a previous post, we indicated nominations for the board are in process. Of course, we're always looking for capable volunteers for a variety of tasks. Contact [email protected]. The Meyers House will be open Saturday, October 23, from 1 to 4 pm. Then it will remain closed until the new year. The Museum is open on weekends, Saturday 11 am to 4 pm; Sunday 1:30 to 4 pm. And while we have our eclectic selection of historic artifacts on display in the permanent galleries, we also have many objects on sale. Looking for that unique hostess / host gift for Thanksgiving? Wanted: Alameda Museum Board Members 2022 The Alameda Museum is the official repository of historical documents and artifacts for the City of Alameda. The board meets quarterly online or in person at the museum, with business being conducted by email between meetings. This is a volunteer position. Board members serve for a two year term starting January 2022. You must be a museum member or plan to join with board acceptance. This is an opportunity for members of our community to create a dynamic, working board striving to keep the collection interesting, educational, and enjoyable for our diverse population.   The Board is happy to announce that the Alameda Museum will be opening the doors again. Come explore what new objects have been put on display in the exhibit space, or have a second look at some old favorites. Visit our gift shop and explore the multitude of gently used curated objects that have been waiting for a new home. (As always, Cash or Check only). For now we will open only on weekends, excluding holidays (i.e. closed July 4 (Independence Day). Father's Day (June 20) opening is currently to be decided). Behind The Scenes...What's in the warehouse - Spring 2021. Admittedly, we didn't have a theme to build an exhibit for, but we do want to show our museum collection, even though we are still closed, so what to do? We made a 'Behind the Scenes...what's in the warehouse - Spring 2021' Exhibit in the Window Space of the Alameda Museum, 2324 Alameda Ave., from February 15 to May 15, 2021. The exhibit is showing some of the objects that are not normally on display in the museum. Some of these objects were donated a long time ago, but don't fit in with the permanent displays; some of these are newly donated objects; some of these are objects that will not be added to the permanent collection. 2021 – New Year, New Board

On January 16, 2021, newly elected and returning Board Members met for the first quarterly meeting of 2021...of course using remote meeting software. The 2021 Board of Directors consists of: Valerie Turpen (president), Myrna van Lunteren (vice-president), Ron Mooney (secretary), Lynn Houlihan (treasurer), and directors (in alphabetical  order:) Melissa Hagaman, Zhidong Hao, Ashok Katdare, Melissa Marchi, Robert Matz, Rasheed Shabazz. The docent coordinator is Jean Graubart. Curator George Gunn is currently on a leave of absence, since the museum remains closed. With thanks to all members who send in their ballots, and the League of Women Voters of Alameda, who handled the official counting of votes.
